Correction is part of publication.

Accuracy is not a one-time state. Source records change, agencies revise data, new reporting resolves gaps and our own work can be wrong. NULLPEN corrects material errors visibly and without laundering the history of the record.

Correction

A factual, numerical, attribution, location, date or contextual error that materially affects understanding.

Clarification

The original wording was not necessarily false, but could reasonably create a materially inaccurate impression.

Update

New information advances a developing record without invalidating what was accurate at the earlier cutoff.

Model revision

Inputs, assumptions, horizon, method or evidence changed enough to alter an estimate or House View.

Retraction

The central record can no longer be supported or the publication process failed materially.

1. Freeze the disputed claim and preserve the relevant source trail.
2. Recheck the primary record, attribution, calculation and context.
3. Assess severity, reach and potential harm.
4. Publish the appropriate change label and version note.
5. Reassess any model, summary or regional conclusion that depended on it.

A disagreement with an interpretation does not automatically establish a factual error. It does require review when the disagreement identifies missing evidence, undisclosed assumptions or material context.

Correction, 6 September 2026: an earlier version of this report gave 24,558,767 arrivals in 2025 and 23,769,508 in 2024, up 3.3%. Those totals added the statistics office's regional and country breakdowns on top of its four population classes, counting non-resident foreigners three times, and omitted two island rows. The correct totals are 9,882,365 and 9,519,908, up 3.8%. The chart has been redrawn from the corrected series. Correction, 6 September 2026: an earlier version of this report said the southern grid lost 26.6% of the electricity it handled in July 2026. That figure divided losses by purchased energy plus losses. Under the measure EDESUR and the Ministry of Energy and Mines use, losses as a share of the energy the distributor buys, the rate was 36.2%. The zone chart has been redrawn: Barahona 60.6%, Bani 50.6%, San Cristobal 47.6%, Santo Domingo 45.8%, San Juan 26.2%, Distrito 15.8%. The GWh figures were correct; 'delivered' meant energy bought for the network.
