Dominican construction licences: 203 issued in September, up 34% on August

Corrected November 3: investment figure removed. MIVHED's open dataset lists 203 construction licences issued in September 2026. Of those, 175 list an area, and they cover 966,304 square metres. Most licences: Santo Domingo (39), Distrito Nacional (38) and La Altagracia (30). Apartment buildings accounted for 94 of the 203. A licence is permission to build, not finished construction. Correction, November 3: an earlier version of this report and its recording gave an investment figure and said applicants declared it. The dataset does not say that. In it, the figure is always the area times one of two fixed amounts per square metre, so it has been removed from this report. That version also read as if every licence listed an area, and not all do. It also called September a record. The margin over July is two licences, and the dataset does not say whether every entry is a new licence, so that claim has been removed too.

Low-cost housing fideicomiso register: 3 projects with an exit date in September

The fideicomiso register kept by MIVHED's low-cost housing qualification division lists 3 projects with an exit date in September 2026: 1,080 housing units and a combined project cost of RD$2.5 billion. The largest is "Residencial Reserva del Sol" in Azua, with 824 units. Provinces: Azua, Santo Domingo. Projects marked as substituted or annulled are not counted. A register entry does not mean the homes are built or delivered.

Meeting with the President of the Republic of Chile

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, today received the President of the Republic of Chile, José Antonio Kast. During the meeting, President Kast shared the main reforms that his Government has introduced to improve the investment climate and boost growth. In this regard, the two Presidents agreed on the need to enhance cooperation in fighting transnational criminal networks, responsible for diverting economic resources away from national development. In light of the particularly positive dynamics in bilateral relations, the two leaders agreed to draw up an Action Plan to set out concrete goals to be met in strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, critical minerals, defence and space, also with the involvement of the private sector. Lastly, President Meloni highlighted the benefits, in terms of investments and diversification, arising from closer collaboration between Italy and Chile, also as part of the relations between the European Union and Latin America.
