Our mandate
NULLPEN exists to make a complex country legible without flattening it. We begin in the Dominican Republic, where the East, North, South and Santo Domingo operate as distinct social and commercial systems. A national average can be useful; it is rarely the whole story.
We are building for readers who want to understand the country from inside and outside it: residents, operators, founders, researchers and internationally minded decision-makers. English is the editorial master. Spanish and other translations will be introduced only with quality controls that preserve the meaning of the source record.
What we stand for
Start at null
A claim begins unsupported. It earns publication through attributable evidence, not repetition or urgency.
Name the layer
Observed fact, analysis, modelled estimate and house opinion carry different labels and different burdens.
Keep the unknown
We do not manufacture precision to cover a gap. Unknowns stay visible until the record resolves them.
Correct in public
Material changes preserve the earlier record, the reason for revision and the time the change was made.
The operating model
- First market
- Dominican Republic, organized by Santo Domingo, East, North and South before later country expansion.
- Coverage
- Commerce, tourism, real estate, infrastructure, technology, public life, mobility, traffic, crime and safety—only where sourcing supports responsible publication.
- Formats
- Written briefings, source ledgers, forecasts, audio reading and short-form video. Audio and video remain clearly connected to their underlying record.
- Business model
- Founder funding first. Clearly labeled advertising may follow after commercial, privacy and editorial controls are operational. Paid influence over coverage is not part of the model.
- Current state
- Founding public beta. Accounts, newsletter intake, advertising sales and public submissions are not open.
What we are not
NULLPEN is not a broker, investment adviser, law firm, public-safety authority or emergency service. Our outlooks are structured editorial judgments—not recommendations, promises, valuations or guarantees.
Independence does not mean pretending to have no point of view. It means showing the evidence, labeling the interpretation, declaring material conflicts and making the reasoning inspectable.
