Ujala Cygnus to acquire stakes in Amandeep Hospitals for North India push, ET HealthWorld


New Delhi: Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals is set to acquire a “significant stake” in Amandeep Hospitals to strengthen and expand its foothold across north India.

While the financial terms and net equity stakes acquired by Ujala has not been disclosed but as per the agreement, “Ujala Cygnus will acquire a significant stake in Amandeep Hospitals,” which runs a network of five multi-speciality hospitals across Amritsar, Pathankot, Ferozepur, and Srinagar.

Commenting on the development, Dr Shuchin Bajaj, Founder Director, Ujala Cygnus Hospitals, said, “Our partnership with the Amandeep Group of Hospitals marks a bold step forward in our mission to make world-class, affordable healthcare accessible to every corner of North India.”

“By combining our respective strengths, we are poised to redefine the healthcare landscape in Punjab and J&K. Our goal is not just to grow but to grow meaningfully—with deeper community engagement, stronger medical talent, and a continuous focus on clinical outcomes,” Probal Ghosal, Chairman, Director and Co-Founder, Ujala Cygnus Healthcare Services, added.

Post this acquisition the hospital chain network will expand from “21 to 26 hospitals” and the total bed capacity will increase by 40 per cent, up from “2,000 beds to nearly 2,800 beds.”

Furthermore, the combined group plans to expand its presence across Punjab, including potential new hospitals in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, and the Tricity region while also augmenting services towards higher end tertiary and quaternary care.
