Jaipur: Medical education department Thursday released details for senior resident counselling following PG exam results, with SMS Medical College receiving only 139 senior resident positions, despite having 318 approved posts.
Other institutions’ allocations include SPMC Bikaner (129 seats), SNMC Jodhpur (151 seats), JLN medical college Ajmer (125 seats), GMC Kota (116 seats), and RNT Udaipur (122 seats). The department has distributed 1,737 SR seats across state govt medical colleges. SR completion remains mandatory for assistant professor roles.
The online application process and choice filling will take place from March 20 to March 25, with final seat allocations scheduled for March 31.
The significant decrease in seats at SMS Medical College has sparked protests. Resident doctors consider the reduction from 318 to 139 seats unlawful and an unjust redistribution. The association of Jaipur resident doctors recently met with DME authorities to discuss their objections, seeking additional SR positions.
