Lucknow: Patients at the Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute are facing delays in receiving radiology test reports due to the absence of a designated radiologist in the department. This has led to inconvenience, especially for those awaiting MRI and other critical scan results.
Officials said currently, radiology reports are being prepared by radiologists from the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI).
However, due to the heavy workload at SGPGI, doctors there are hesitant to provide additional services at the cancer institute.
Meanwhile, the institute’s administration has yet to appoint its own radiologist, resulting in prolonged wait times for patients and a noticeable drop in the number of tests being conducted.
As a result, many cancer patients are forced to seek diagnostic services from private centres, increasing both their financial burden and treatment delays.
The problem is compounded by pending recruitment of doctors.
A total of 96 doctors are to be appointed across various departments of the institute. While the recruitment advertisement was issued and numerous applications received, the process has not yet begun.
