Statement by President Meloni on the State Police operation against youth crime
NULLPEN · Source published 11/2/2026, 9:59:17 AM UTCI wish to express my appreciation and gratitude to the State Police for the vast, nationwide operation against youth crime, which has led to hundreds of arrests, thousands of charges and the seizure of substantial quantities of drugs and weapons. This important result is the fruit of extraordinary prevention efforts, surveillance work and actions to combat illegality, confirming the daily commitment of our public security forces to guaranteeing citizens’ safety and restoring law and order to local areas. We cannot resign ourselves to the idea of violence, oppression and crime becoming normal behaviour, especially not among young people. The State is present and will continue to act with determination in order to combat all forms of illegality and guarantee citizens the right to live in safe cities and neighbourhoods. My thanks go to the men and women of the State Police for their professionalism and dedication and for the valuable work they do every day in the service of the nation. [ Courtesy translation ]
