Meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia

The two leaders agreed on the objective of elevating the bilateral partnership to strategic status through the forthcoming adoption of an Action Plan focusing on priority sectors such as defence, energy, connectivity, research and innovation, and culture. The conversation provided an opportunity to discuss the priorities for the next European Council meeting, starting with the strengthening of the Union’s competitiveness and a structural reduction in energy costs for households and businesses. In this regard, President Meloni highlighted the recent initiatives put forward by Italy, along with other Member States, for a more pragmatic European approach to the energy transition and industrial policy.
