Mumbai: Metropolis Healthcare’s wholly owned subsidiary, Metropolis Histoxpert Digital Services (MHDS), has announced plans to acquire Dehradun-based Dr. Ahuja’s Pathology & Imaging Centre, further expanding its footprint in North India.
Under a business transfer agreement, Metropolis will acquire 100 per cent ownership of the diagnostic service provider in an all-cash deal valued at ₹35.01 crore.
According to the company, Dr. Ahuja’s Pathology & Imaging Centre recorded an estimated annual revenue of ₹11.5 crore (unaudited) in FY 2024–25, with pathology services contributing 73% and radiology accounting for the remaining 27 per cent.
The diagnostic chain operates two laboratories accredited by NABL and NABH, 11 patient service centres, and nine hospital-based centres.
Commenting on the acquisition, Ameera Shah, Promoter and Executive Chairperson of Metropolis Healthcare Limited, said, “We are further strengthening our ‘String of Pearls’ strategy—aimed at building a robust and regionally diverse diagnostic network across North India. These strategic moves have expanded the North India contribution to our overall revenues from 8% to an estimated 14–15%.”
Surendran Chemmenkotil, Chief Executive Officer, Metropolis Healthcare Limited, added, “Uttarakhand is one of the fastest-growing diagnostic markets in North India, valued at approximately ₹500 crore. This integration will enhance both our B2B and B2C reach with a comprehensive test portfolio, including specialized diagnostics.”
This marks Metropolis’s second acquisition in the past month, following the purchase of Agra-based Scientific Pathology as part of its western Uttar Pradesh expansion plans.
