Lucknow: Patients with osteoarthritis are at a higher risk of requiring knee replacement surgery if the condition is not effectively managed. This was highlighted by Dr Saif Shah during a health talk on knee replacement surgery held at Medanta Hospital on Thursday.
“Approximately 250,000 knee replacement procedures are performed annually in India. However, the actual number of patients needing surgery is significantly higher than the current figures indicate. What we are witnessing is merely the tip of the iceberg. There is a pressing need to enhance healthcare access, extend life expectancy, and raise awareness about joint health to prevent these staggering numbers,” Dr Shah said.
“Knee replacement surgery can be life-changing for many individuals, providing significant pain relief and enabling them to resume normal activities,” he added.
The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, providing patients with an opportunity to address their concerns.
