Karnataka Health minister launches mega health camp in Savadatti, ET HealthWorld


Belagavi: Health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao launched a massive mega-health mela at Savadatti in Belagavi district on Sunday. On the occasion, he said that the health mela was organised in Savadatti so that people would receive medical services on the lines of private hospitals.

The mela was organised under the leadership of the National health campaign, district administration, ZP, district health and family welfare department, Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS), various associations, various hospitals, and various departments, at Savadatti taluk stadium.

All govt hospitals and private hospitals of the district participated in the mega health mela. Treatment centres were set up in different parts of the state, and public should take advantage. The mela was organised with the aim of facilitating people of the jurisdiction. More than 300 doctors from all govt hospitals came for the mela, he said.

Multi-specialty hospital at Savadatti

The minister also said that a grant of Rs 46 crores would be released for the construction of a multi-speciality hospital in Savadatti. Steps were taken to build a new well-equipped hospital in Ramdurg and Kittur taluks. A district hospital model will be constructed in Gokak. In the coming days, a special programme will be organised to provide medicines to every family and every individual, under the home health scheme.

Public works minister Satish Jarkiholi and local MLA Vishwas Vaidya spoke. Kittur MLA Babasaheb Patil, MLA Mahantesh Koujalagi, ZP CEO Rahul Shinde, Health and family welfare commissioner Shivakumar K., DHO Dr Gadad, director of BIMS Dr AshokKumar Shetty, Savadatti taluk health officer Dr Sripad Sabanees, tahsildar Mallikarjun Heggannavar, and Savadatti panchayat president Chinnavva Huchannavar were present.

Earlier, minister Dinesh defended the suspension of 18 BJP members from the house, and said that the MLAs disrespected the House by breaking the rules and attacking the Speaker.
