Jaipur: The health department is getting ready to implement the suggestions of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for more effective response to chemical hazards. The department issued directions to all chief medical health officers (CMHOs) on April 9, asking them to implement the suggestions.
“Directions have been issued to the CMHOs to identify high-risk chemical industries throughout the state and ensure that nearby hospitals are equipped with adequate healthcare facilities for prompt treatment and medical attention. NDMA has suggested that the medical resources and facilities in and around these factories need to be placed and that those be equipped as per the probable hazards. Manpower trained to deal with medical emergencies arising out of such situations should be kept ready. There is a need for mapping of medical resources and facilities in and around industrial areas of HAZCHEM (Hazardous Chemicals) factories, followed by organising regular workshops and training of the medical teams and staff,” said a senior health department official.
