New Delhi: Health and family welfare minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh on Friday launched the PC&PNDT online portal at a one-day workshop focused on implementing the Act effectively. The initiative aims to digitise and modernise the implementation of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, making it more transparent and efficient.
According to officials, the portal will substitute manual operations with a digital framework, ensuring better oversight and compliance by registered facilities while preventing unauthorised use of ultrasound technology for gender determination.
During its launch at Delhi Secretariat, Dr Singh emphasised the administration’s dedication to gender equality and safeguarding girl children. He praised departmental staff for implementing this digital solution and highlighted its significance in improving Delhi’s current sex ratio of 922. Delhi witnessed a decline in sex ratio from 929 females in 2022 to 922 per 1,000 males in 2023. The figures are lower than the national average of 940. “The issue of sex determination is deep-rooted in our society. Delhi, being the capital of India, must lead by example in its exemplary efforts in eliminating sex determination. I am confident that this initiative will further improve Delhi’s sex ratio and strengthen our efforts to end gender-based discrimination.” the minister said, adding that he has asked officials to ensure strict action on any complaint received through the portal.
The website, https://pcpndt.delhi.gov.in, will deliver key services, including digital form F submission for ultrasound facilities, a public complaint registration system, enforcement tracking and live compliance status updates. TNN
