Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court issued notices to the secretary of medical education and the chairman of NEET PG counselling board Tuesday, questioning the alleged discrimination against doctors who completed their MBBS outside of Rajasthan for admission to the six-month ultrasound training course in Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT).
Justice Sameer Jain issued the notice after a petition was filed by Dr Supriya Gupta, who argued that the admission process unfairly prioritised doctors graduating from medical colleges in Rajasthan. Gupta’s petition challenged the admission criteria.
The petitioner’s counsel, Tanveer Ahmed, alleged discrimination in the NEET PG Counselling Board’s April 22 advertisement for the ultrasound training course under PCPNDT. The advertisement’s provisions state that doctors who studied MBBS at Rajasthan medical colleges will be preferred in the first round, while ‘outside’ candidates will only be considered in the second and subsequent rounds.
