Lucknow: In a review of state health and family welfare department on Wednesday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed satisfaction over the decline in mortality rate of dengue and encephalitis in the state.

The CM was told that dengue’s mortality rate went down by 93% between 2017 and 2024. Officials briefed him that there was an 87% and 76% decrease in Japanese Encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome cases, respectively, with a 97% and 98% reduction in deaths caused by them.

Lauding the team effort that triggered the change, the CM directed officials to make concerted efforts for disease prevention and mitigation. He also directed officials to augment the state’s telemedicine network. “All medical colleges should be connected to the telemedicine services of KGMU, RML Institute and SGPGI under the hub-and-spoke model, allowing patients easy access to expert medical advice,” the CM said.

He also directed officials for an increase in number of night shelters at RML Institute for the patients and their attendants and also instructed officials to visit districts regularly to inspect and improve hospital arrangements. Reviewing safety measures, the CM insisted on strict adherence to fire safety standards in all state hospitals. He also directed payments to hospitals registered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme be ensured within 30 days, allowing uninterrupted patient services. He directed that presence of doctors in PHCs, CHCs and district hospitals be mandatorily ensured to provide timely medical assistance to patients. He said everyone’s participation is essential for success of PM’s TB-free India campaign and appealed to public representatives to adopt TB patients and contribute to their treatment and rehabilitation.

The CM also instructed ensuring availability and sufficient stock of affordable medicines in all hospitals and health centres. He emphasised need to improve ambulance services and reduce response time and noted that ambulances play a crucial role in timely patient treatment. The CM stressed ensuring quality and timeliness of ongoing projects under the Prime Minister’s Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission.

To date, 52.1 million beneficiaries were issued Ayushman cards. Other eligible individuals should also benefit from this.
