Pune: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday said that the state govt is monitoring the Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) cases in Pune and since it is not communicable, citizens should not panic.
At least 67 GBS cases have been reported in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporation limits. Ajit Pawar, who is also Pune’s guardian minister, said, “The state govt has reviewed the situation. Health minister Prakash Abitkar, health secretary and I met to discuss GBS cases. I have told the civil surgeon, Pune district collector, and other officials to keep a close watch on the situation.”
Officials have been told to release guidelines to address rumours about the disease. “We are advising citizens to drink boiled water as a precautionary measure,” the deputy CM said.
