Raipur: The Anatomy Department of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur organised a heartfelt Body Donation Honour Programme to acknowledge and honour the families of individuals who voluntarily donated their bodies to the institution for medical education and research on Feb 8, 2025. The event also included an oath-taking ceremony for the first-year MBBS students.
Lt. Gen. Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Raipur, was the chief guest of the programme. He expressed deep gratitude towards the families of the donors, recognising their noble contribution to medical education and research. Alongside him, Prof. Dr. Renu Rajguru, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Raipur, presented certificates of honour to the families. In her address, Prof. Rajguru highlighted the significance of the cadaver donations, emphasising the various research opportunities made possible by the availability of such invaluable resources.
Prof Dr Soumitra Trivedi, Head of Anatomy Department, delivered an insightful speech, explaining the importance of the body donation Programme. He educated the audience on the process of voluntarily donating one’s body to AIIMS Raipur and reiterated the significance of these donations in advancing medical education.
NGOs such as Badhte Kadam, Vridhashram Mana, and Pranam Sanstha, who played a pivotal role in facilitating body donations and maintained long-standing collaborations with the institute, were also honoured by the dignitaries for their dedicated support.
As part of the event, the first-year MBBS students took an oath led by Prof Dr A U Siddiqui of the Anatomy Department. The oath emphasised the importance of respecting the bodies of the deceased and committing to learn from the cadavers with sincerity and dedication.
The programme concluded with a cultural performance organised by the first-year medical students, featuring spiritual and inspirational presentations that added a solemn and uplifting touch to the ceremony.
